Through the generosity of military service members and their families, OSC event sponsors, the Yuma community, and our military spouse members, The Officers’ Spouses’ Club gave away a total of $24,000 during our June 2018 - May 2019 year. This included $10,000 in scholarships to local military dependents, $9,000 in grants to organizations that support our military community, and $5,000 in “Holiday Blessings” for Yuma-based military members in need.
We are a small chapter, but one invested in our base and our community. Help us reach our 2019-2020 goal of giving away a total of $28,000 by supporting one of our two philanthropic programs that benefit local military personnel and the Yuma community.
Thank you for your support!
The OSC’s Holiday Blessings program directly supports Yuma-based military personnel in need through commissary (grocery) gift cards during the Thanksgiving and holiday season. Gift cards are distributed through the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society to ensure they reach service members with a demonstrated need for support.
Commissary gift cards typically range between $50 and $100 per family. While it may seem small, this support goes a long way in helping families make ends meet during the holiday season!
In addition to donating directly to this program at the link below, you’ll find Holiday Blessing jars at business aboard MCAS Yuma, including Desert Perk Coffee, Afterburner, and the Marine Corps Exchange during WTI training. A little bit goes a long way - consider dropping your spare change in one of these jars next time you spot one on base!
Scholarships & Grants
The OSC’s Scholarship & Grant Program raises money for educational scholarships for military dependents (including children and spouses) and grants to local and national organizations that impact Yuma’s military community. Our 2019 grant recipients include Yuma Community Food Bank, EOD Warrior Foundation, Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, Yuma Family YMCA, Military Child Education Coalition, and others.
Donations to this program can be designated specifically for scholarships and grants, or they can be applied to the operating fund for the Spring Benefit Dinner and Auction, our primary fundraiser for the Scholarship & Grant Program.
After the cost of hosting the spring event, any remaining funds are rolled into the total scholarship and grant award amount for the year. Go to the Benefit page if you’d like your donation to go to the operating fund for the Spring Benefit Dinner and Auction.
